Live in Romania
Web of Intrigue: Live in Romania is now out in the world. It’s a recording of a show I played with some great musicians back in October and features two originals of mine, “Newyorkistan” and “Faux Amis.”

Here’s a quick fan video of Ampersand, a new tune I’ll be recording with the trio in January. This is taken from our show in NYC in July at Stage 2. Thanks to Dave Burnett on drums and John Davis on bass for sounding so great on a tune they’d never played before!
Jarvis Cocker’s Sunday Service on BBC is a great collection of obscure sounds, b sides, and random insights provided by the witty host himself. I met Jarvis in Paris a few months back and he took a shining to some of my music…quite a nice nod from the man that gave us some of the best songs from the 90’s. This past Sunday he opened his show with JDT’s cover of “Life on Mars” and gave us a nice shout out. Thanks Jarvis!
Check out his show here.
My good friend Andrew Todd was decorated Chevalier des Arts et Lettres this past weekend (French knighthood) and to celebrate, he organized a concert at a secret concert hall inside the Romanian embassy. I was asked to provide a couple of my tunes to the set, which worked great alongside a live light and string installation. All topped off by a set closer with Daniel Humair. A very special evening.
As a member of the Brainchildren, I played piano and Rhodes on the new Elizabeth! record. The album is getting some nice press, including this nice shout out in CMJ.

This past weekend I had the awesome pleasure of performing live at the Kenzo show for Paris Fashion Week. Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, founders of Opening Ceremony, have been appointed creative directors at Kenzo and the shows (11 in total!) were packed for 4 hours straight. I had a great time working with Jason Schwartzman, who provided the runway music, and Spike Jonze, who was filming a documentary for the label. Thanks to all involved for such a collaborative and super creative experience! (And thanks for giving me a reason to get my pedalboard up and running again).

Just before I left for Paris, my good friend Michael Idov gave a ring and had me record some piano parts for his new project, Friends of the Oval. Michael and I met in 2005 when I joined his band Spielerfrau. Since then he’s been making waves as a contributing editor at New York Magazine and as the author of Ground Up. This side project sounds awesome!
