A very nice plug appeared in the New York Times last week promoting our show at Barbes on Wednesday. Nate Chinen writes, "Jason Domnarski is a promising young keyboardist with a deep attunement to pop production and orchestration, as he demonstrates on his self-released new album "Notes from Underground."

06.18.08 | EST RIP
This past weekend, Swedish jazz pianist Esbjorn Svensson was tragically killed in a diving accident in the Stockholm archipelago. His group, EST, while still gaining notoriety in the US, was a major force in the European jazz scene, winning countless awards and releasing 12 studio albums. Widely considered to be one of the most innovative groups in jazz today, they fully embraced electronic effects in their composition and performance and brought "the band" back to jazz; EST was always Esbjorn, Dan and Magnus, never anyone else, making the trio a juggernaut in the world of sideman jazz. More groups should ascribe to this model. I had met Esbjorn a handful of times and he was always incredibly humble and personable, encouraging musicians to celebrate their own voice no matter how far it may fall from the established norms. We've lost a great one.
